How to participate (sign up) and how to access (log in):
1. I am visiting and I am not a member yet. How do I participate (sign up or subscribe), becoming a regular and active member or user? Open || Close
To sign up as an user (member) for the Genealogia Net portal, click on the "Sign up" option in the menu (on the left side of the screen). Or click here.
You provide some information (by filling out a form) and, after you confirm your subscription request, you will have your own login (username) and password. With your login and your password you will be able to access (login) this website (the Genealogia Net portal here) whenever you want.
In the same way you access a bank website, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Hi5, Orkut, Second Life, Messenger (MSN) or web based email (like Yahoo or Hotmail).
2. How do I login to the site? Open || Close
First you need to be subscribed in order to login (according to the answer in the above question).
That is, it is necessary that you have already signed up (with your login and password). Then, after you sign up the site, the system sends you a message (through email) with a link (address) you should visit.
This confirmation message is to make sure your email is correct and that the inscription really came from (was done by) you.
Without the above confirmation it will not be possible for you to login (enter or connect) using the login and password chosen at registration.
Whereas you 1) has already signed up, 2) has already received the confirmation message and 3) has already visited the link (address) for confirmation of your subscription, then simply login (enter or get connected) through the menu (left side of the screen) on the "Login" option by typing your Login and Password. After entering your Login and Password in the respective spaces click the "Login" button. Your connection will be done (your login will be validated and you will be logged into the site).
If you perchance enter your Login and/or Password incorrectly (with a different or incorrect character), then the system will warn you if something doesn't match and give you the opportunity to try again.
3. I have already signed up and I have my login (username) and password, but I can not login (enter or access). That is, I am having difficulty logging onto the site. After I enter my login (username) and my password, even so a message shows up saying the Login or Password are incorrect. Can you help me? How should I proceed?Open || Close
Here there are two possibilities. One of these two events is preventing you from logging into the site:
1) You have not yet confirmed your subscription.
First you must be registered (according to the orientation given in the answer of the first question).
That is, even if you have already signed up and chosen your login (username) and password you may not simply enter that Login and Password to login (access or get connected) into the system. It is necessary first to confirm your subscription request, so that the login and password are active (working or operational). From then on (after your confirmation) it will be possible to login successfully.
2) You have confirmed your subscription, but you cannot enter (login into) the site.
Considering you have confirmed your subscription (by visiting the link in the email message you received after signing up) and the system has already sent a personalized welcome message to you, then your Login and Password are active.
In that case you are unable to login (access or enter the site). That is, you are having difficulty entering the site. After entering your login (username) and password, a message shows up saying the Login or Password are incorrect. What to do? How to proceed?
The login (username) or password you entered are incorrect or invalid.
Check if the ''Caps Lock'' key is enabled (it must be not enabled). In other words, make sure that the ''Caps Lock'' light on your keyboard is off. When the ''Caps Lock'' key (it is usually located on the left of your keyboard, near the letter A) is enabled all the typed letters are capitalized by default and (on some computers) in lower case when the shift key is pressed; the keyboard remains in this mode until ''Caps Lock'' is pressed again. Remember it should be disabled, and you must always use lower case (minuscule or small letters) when entering your login (username). If you enter all your login (or even a part of it) using upper case (capital letters) it will be incorrect (and refused by the system).
So, if your login is researcher2009 and you enter RESEARCHER2009 (all letters in capital) this login is incorrect and it will not be accepted. Similarly if your login is, for example, schmitt and you type Schmitt (the first letter in uppercase) this login is also incorrect and will not be accepted.
Remember your login (username) is all in lower case, and your password may have lower case and upper case (besides special characters); thus, PaSsWord is different from password. For this reason, again it is important to check if the ''Caps Lock'' key is not enabled. If your password is, for example, perere2009 and you type PERERE2009 (all letters in capital) this password is incorrect and it will not be accepted. Similarly if your password is, for example, jurere97ty and you type JUrere98ty (the first two letters in capital) this password is also incorrect and will not be accepted.
Another possibility is if you type a character in the password field incorrectly. For example, say your password is terere99plus and you type terer99plus (missed one character, the letter "e" before the first number 9) or tererw((plus (after the last letter "r" three characters are different) this password is incorrect and will not be accepted.
Please review (check) carefully and try again.
